25 Days of Christmas - Day 9

This year I wanted to adopt a family or child in need so I reached out to my cousin Kira who I knew could point me in the right direction.  It turned out that the place she works, Crittenton childrens center, offers this sort of program so she sent my contact info over to their chief elf!  I was given a choice of ages for which Crittenton "angel" to adopt.  I chose a 2 year old because my kids are 2 and I figured I knew how to shop for a 2 year old and it would have special meaning for us.  The chief elf sent me a wish list and I was excited to be able to purchase some of my kids favorite things for another kid to enjoy!  My dad and Jason's parents also helped us out so we could make sure our adoptee got a great Christmas. Tonight on the way to our activity we dropped off all the gifts.  I hope all the children there have a wonderful Christmas this year and I feel so honored to have helped even just a little bit.  I hope to raise my kids with kind and generous hearts and I plan to do this every year so they can experience the feeling of helping others and can appreciate all they have!

After we dropped off the gifts we made our way to Christmas in the park.  I love Christmas in the park.  I think J and I have gone every year for at least 6 years or so.  This is a must do activity in this house.  Last year when we took the kids they fell asleep before we could get to all the lights which was disappointing but I still enjoyed it.  This year I made hot chocolates for everyone, I let the kids wear their jammies and I gave them blankets to stay warm and we headed over early hoping the line wasnt going to be as long as years past!  We got lucky because in the past we had to wait for an hour or more.  This year we got right in and the kids really enjoyed it.  They were so excited about all the lights and they happily munched on marshmallows and fruit loops while we drove through.

Gifts for our "angel"
27th year!

  1. Yay!! I got a little misty-eyed reading this one. I LOVE that you are raising such generous little ones. That special kiddo is going to have an amazing Christmas and you just KNOW that the parents are going to be so incredibly thankful. You're good people.
