Learning Curve
Well after the first few weeks of kindergarten I can definitely say we are settling in and figuring things out. I can tell the kids are tired when they get home still. They have some big emotions in the afternoons. I'm learning that there is still plenty for me to do even though they are gone. I've been busy cooking, volunteering at the school, making lunches, and keeping the house clean. I'm having a lot of fun but am staying busy. The kids are really loving school. They really like recess and their special classes, pe, music, and art. I forgot their snack once and had to run it up to the school and I got my first call from the nurse because Kahlan had picked a scab and ended up with blood all over her clothes so I had to run up there with a new outfit.
Noah started taekwondo and is really enjoying it. He is a very good listener and that is really helping him in class. Kahlan is doing another season of soccer. I've seen some real improvement from her. She is really starting to get in there and try to get the ball.
School lunch week 3
This week I let the kids have an extra buy from school day on Wednesday because I was going to do leftovers but they didn't really enjoy either of the dinners I had leftovers for.

School lunch week 1
This is going to be a weekly blog post. It is mostly for myself to keep track of the lunches I make for the kids but I also hope other parents may find it helpful. I'm going to follow the following formula but it won't apply for the first 2 weeks since week 1 is just wed-fri and week 2 we have Monday off.
Mondays - alphabet
Tuesdays - non sandwich
Wednesdays - hot lunch
Thursdays - sandwich
Fridays - buy from school
First Day of Kindergarten - Tears and Cheers
The first day of kindergarten is such a big step in all kids and parents lives. It's a transition from a bit more freedom to the daily grind of school. For me it's a huge transition. For 5 years my sole job has been to raise my kids and I spent so many days with them. Some days felt hard but some were wonderful. Days filled with zoo trips, playdates, parks, and so many other wonderful places. I will miss these days so much. Noah and Kahlan have grown so much in the last 5 years and they are smart and independent and completely capable of kindergarten. I'm so excited to see all the things they learn and friends they make this year. I will also enjoy my trips to the store without anxious little kiddos begging for cookies and asking how much longer.
The first day went wonderful. The kids were thrilled to ride the bus. We met them at school and walked them to their class. They were 100% ready for us to go. No tears no fears just excitement. I teared up a bit but mostly held it together. I'm so proud of my kindergarteners.
